John Risvold always knew he wanted to be a lawyer who helped people. After successfully defending insurance companies and large corporations for several years he “saw the light” and took on a new direction—representing people who have been wronged or injured as a trial lawyer.

As a trial lawyer John handles personal injury, medical negligence, wrongful death, environmental and other catastrophic injury cases. John works exclusively for victims and consumers to ensure they get the justice they deserve.

Prior to working for individuals who had been injured, John exclusively handled multi-million dollar personal injury and wrongful death litigation. He has significant experience handling toxic tort cases involving asbestos, benzene, tobacco, radon, Agent Orange, air pollution, silica and talc.

His trial work has gained him the recognition of his alma mater and his peers. A graduate of the University of Missouri, John received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri School of Law. While at Mizzou, John was recognized as one of the school’s top trial advocates, receiving the R. David Ray Excellence in Trial Advocacy Award and CALI Award for best Trial Advocate. He graduated Order of Barristers, a distinction given to the 10 students in each class who exhibit excellence and attain high honor through the art of courtroom advocacy. John was also recognized as a Super Lawyer “Rising Star” an award given to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois.

John is licensed to practice in Illinois and Missouri as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
